Belgian tax officials are conducting an investigation to determine whether one of the richest men in the Netherlands has committed fraud.

BRASSCHAAT - The man, who resides officially in Monaco and New York, has a suspected fortune of 600 million euros.

However, the Belgian tax authorities believe the 62-year-old man lives in the Belgian town of Brasschaat and that he is, therefore, liable for Belgian tax.

Police are also interested in his enormous art collection, which is thought to have been used as collateral for a loan of 800 million euros.
