3JS sent home in Eurovision Song Festival

The Dutch formation The 3JS, have failed to make it to the finals of the Eurovision Song Festival scheduled to be held in the German city of Düsseldorf on Saturday.

During the second of the semi finals on Thursday, the band from Volendam and its song were not among the best ten of the 19 candidates.

Band member Jaap Kwakman twittered immediately afterward:

The ten countries which did qualify for the finals are: Estonia, Romania, Moldova, Ireland, Bosnia Herzegovina, Denmark Austria, Ukraine, Slovenia, and Sweden.

Viewers cast their votes on Thursday, after the national professional juries had already voted during the rehearsals. The five-man strong Dutch professional jury included singer Mandy Huydts, singer Tim Douwsma, DJ Fred Siebelink and Buma Bureau of Musical Copyright Culture Director Frank Helmink.

The first round in the semi finals was held on Tuesday. The first ten then included Serbia, Lithuania, Greece, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Switzerland, Hungary, Finland, Russia and Iceland.

Thursday’s show was broadcast live on television in all 43 participating countries.
