AMSTERDAM — At least 31 people were reported killed in Europe following Thursday's south-westerly storm.
Ten deaths were recorded in Germany, nine in the UK and six in the Netherlands.
Deaths were also reported in Belgium, France, Poland and the Czech Republic.
Most victims died in traffic accidents or were hit by fallen trees.
Air traffic and public transport encountered delays in many countries and ferries stopped operating.
In Austria, 20,000 houses were blacked out.
People on ski holidays were advised against taking to the highest peaks.
