24 new animal species recorded in NL

The 24 new species are 23 insects and a jelly fish.

Among the insects are the lucerne leafcutter bee Megachile rotundata and a species of sharp-tailed bee, Coelioxys afra.

The other insect species include 18 wasp species: the cuckoo wasp Pseudomalus auratus and 17 species belonging to the Chalcididae family.

Also recorded for the first time were three bugs belonging to the order Hemiptera. A stalked jellyfish Stauromedusae order was discovered in the Oosterschelde estuary.
