AMSTERDAM - The Netherlands leaves EUR 1.5 billion in support from Brussels unused. No other EU member state is so sloppy with European subsidies, the AD reports.

The European Commission says it comes down to about EUR 200 per household. On average member states use up about 75 percent of the subsidies available to them. The Netherlands only uses up just over half.

The finance ministry denies the report and says the amount of subsidies unused is much lower.
