Not only is the language difficult, but expats complain that when they attempt to speak Dutch to a Dutch person, inevitably they receive a reply in English. Add to this the Dutch government's move to make immigrants take more responsibility for learning the Duch language (read Learning Dutch is a must which has around 90 reactions so far) and you have the recipe for a lively debate.
