06/12/2012Childcare Allowance Calculator 2013 now available!

Childcare Allowance Calculator 2013 now available! Blue Umbrella proudly present the early release of the childcare allowance calculator for 2013 in English. (Sponsored contribution)

The calculator is based upon the childcare allowance rates for 2013 as proposed by the Dutch Cabinet. The allowance rates 2013, which successfully passed the Senate, are now formally released.

As restrictions and rules attached to receiving childcare allowance has grown more complex over the years, parents struggle to find out how much childcare allowance they are entitled. Luckily, Blue Umbrella provides an easy to use childcare allowance calculator. Click here to try the allowance calculator 2013.

Parental contribution raised for 2013
Parents will pay proportionally more parental contribution in 2013. The driver for this is reduced childcare allowance for the first child. The first child is the child receiving most care hours. This is, therefore, not necessarily the oldest child.

Families with a combined income (before tax) of €118,000 and over will no longer receive childcare allowance for their first child. For the second and next children, these parents will receive the same childcare allowance amounts as in 2012.

All payments handled by the Tax Office
Parents who receive childcare allowance from the UWV or the municipality will receive this pay from the Tax Office in 2013.

Parents enrolled in a study, outsourcing or compulsory civic integration program
Since 2012, parents are only entitled to childcare allowance for the working hours of the least working parent. Parents enrolled in a study, outsourcing or compulsory civic integration program (inburgeringscursus) were exempt from the hour limitation. Also this group of parents entitlement for the childcare allowance will be limited for the duration of the program with to a maximum of 230 hours per month.

Per example:

  • you are enrolled in a civic integration program for the duration of three months, your childcare allowance entitlement is 230 hours per month per child.
  • you are enrolled in a study, outsourcing or compulsory civic integration program and you have a working partner. Your childcare allowance entitlement is linked to the working hours of your partner.
  • you are part-time employed and part-time studying and your partner works part-time. Your childcare allowance entitlement is linked to the (part-time) working hours of your partner.

Parents enrolled in a compulsory civic integration program
Parents enrolled in a compulsory civic integration program are entitled to childcare allowance. As of 2013, it is required to enroll with a certified civic integration program provider to remain entitled for the childcare allowance.
