Work by Kathelijn Rombaut and Elisabeth Spits. Both women have been associated with Johan Suttorp's Atelier Dijkzicht Amsterdam for many years as members and apprentices.Their paintings show a powerful, expressionist brush stroke, both in abstract and figurative images. Elisabeth Spits is curator of ships models at the Amsterdam Maritime Museum, as well as an active boat owner. Ships and other elements related to the water are omnipresent in her figurative work. Note that this gallery, just off the Nieuwmarkt square, is also a hat makers and where you can find unique creations. The owner worked as a wardrobe lady and stylist to the stars in Hollywood.
