Francis Ford Coppola said of his controversial 1979 film Apocalypse Now that was based on Joseph Conrad’s Hearts of Darkness: 'This isn't a film about Vietnam. This is Vietnam.' Apocalypse Now Redux is the 2001 director’s cut release, almost an hour longer than the orginal, features two extra scenes and remains as harrowing as the original.
