Striving for educational excellence, Lemania-Verbier International School (LVIS) currently welcomes 60 students from around the world in small class settings, providing students with an individually tailored education and a learning experience that will last a lifetime. Education goes beyond the curriculum at LVIS, and learning is inspired by critical thinking, creativity and open mindedness to the beliefs and cultures of others. The school's mission is to enable our pupils to become self-confident, creative and critical individuals, determined to do their very best.
Students follow the English national curriculum while adopting the Plan d’Etude Romand (PER) to teach French, whether as a second language or as a mother tongue. Our coherent continuum of programmes runs from pre-school (Foundation Stage 1) through to secondary school (up to Year 9). Following the accreditations the school received for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and International Baccalaureate (IB), we will be offering these programmes from 2018 onwards, thus enabling students to carry out their education in Verbier until the age of 18.
The IB Diploma Programme, a passport to higher education, is designed to prepare students for the various challenges they will face at University and beyond. As an IB World School, LVIS shares a common philosophy of commitment to high-quality and challenging international education, that we believe is important for our students.
With a strong emphasis on competitive Sports and the Arts, LVIS offers each student the possibility to expand their knowledge and interests through a comprehensive set of artistic, cultural, athletic and technological activities such as drama, swimming, tennis, golf, ice-skating, climbing, arts and crafts, and computing to name a few.
Naturally, skiing is an integral part of our programme during the winter season, with comprehensive skiing programmes offered for all levels. Whether preparing for a ski race competition or simply the enjoyment of one of the the best skiing areas in the world, we provide opportunities for all our pupils. Students ski twice a week as part of their school day from January to the end of March in what is the biggest and most beautiful ski areas in Switzerland. For the most advanced skiers, we have our very own LVIS Racing Team with competitions throughout Switzerland.
Led by the Headmaster, Thibaut Descoeudres, we collaborate closely with parents, ensuring the progression of their children’s learning. LVIS offers a true family feel and our pupils interact as siblings, creating a real home away from home.
Lemania-Verbier International School is entering into a development phase and has exciting plans to build a new school and boarding house, which will enable us to welcome up to 250 students.
