Mass applications for scooter licences 03/11/2006 00:00
Thousands of applications before the new rulings go into effect.

ZOETERMEER – In a run-up to last Tuesday, the last day on which it was relatively simple to make an application for a motor scooter (brom-fiets) licence, the Dutch have applied for the paper in masses.
In total 695.000 motor scooter owners have applied, of which 94.000 in just the last week.
That has been communicated by the Rijksdienst voor het Wegverkeer on Friday.
The service speaks of a storm of requests for the registration certificates.
The high point was on Tuesday, when 29.000 Dutch requested a registration certificate and several post offices had to keep their doors open longer.
