Germany attracts Dutch businesses 04/06/2007 00:00

APELDOORN – Municipalities in the German border region are trying to convince Dutch businesses to move to Germany. There is an abundance of cheap commercial lots in Germany, while building new business parks in the Netherlands takes 15 years on average.
Chairman of employers' organisation VNO-NCW Midden Paul te Riele has said this. According to the organisation, German municipalities are actively seeking out Dutch businessmen to offer them attractive deals. There is plenty of cheap, available land up for sale, with all the necessary facilities in close proximity, Te Riele says.
VNO-NCW wants the local Dutch governments in the area to make more of an effort to construct new business parks. The need for new terrains is expected to become acute by 2030.
