Winners of 2007's People's Choice Award at the Sugar Factory 23/04/2008 00:00
Leading New Zealand band Opshop to perform at Sugar Factory, May 16
In 2005 Opshop brought in Manic Street Preachers producer Greg Haver to help shape their songs. Released earlier last year, "Second Hand Planet" entered the charts at #5, hitting #1 32 weeks later, beating out Radiohead on their debut week for "In Rainbows". The single "Maybe" has achieved the honour of being the biggest song at New Zealand Radio in 4 years, holding the #1 spot for 12 consecutive weeks and was the only song to receive over 10,000 spins in 2007. The album has now sold over 35,000 copies in NZ. They have supported Snow Patrol, Silverchair and Powderfinger on their recent NZ tours.
