The award honoured Pim de la Parra for his work as a pioneer in the Dutch and Surinamese film industry

PARAMARIBO - Film director Pim de la Parra has been awarded the Golden Calf by the Dutch Film Festival. The award is intended to honour him for his work as a pioneer in the Dutch and Surinamese film industry. It was presented on the opening night of the Back Lot Festival in the Surinamese capital Paramaribo.

In the 1960s and 1970s, Pim de la Parra made a large number of films in collaboration with Wim Verstappen. They scored a major success with Blue Movie in 1971. Pim de la Parra also supported new talent in The Netherlands and his native country of Suriname. He retired from the film industry in October.
