AMSTERDAM - Klaas Jan Huntelaar scored a first-half hat trick in Ajax's 4-1 defeat of De Graafschap on Sunday, and PSV Eindhoven moved closer to the Dutch league title with a 2-0 win at Heracles Almelo.
With just two games remaining, PSV still leads Ajax by 5 points in its bid for a fourth straight title.
Huntelaar has a league-leading 32 goals this season, increasing speculation he will move abroad next season.
PSV came under heavy pressure in the opening minutes from Heracles, who had a goal disallowed for offside.
Timmy Simons scored for PSV in the 12th with a long-range shot and Heracles rarely threatened the tight defence afterward. Jefferson Farfan scored the second goal with a free kick in the 80th.
In the next round PSV hosts FC Twente, which beat Excelsior 1-0 on Saturday and has climbed into fourth place with 58 points after a six-game winning streak.
