8 February 2008

EELDERWOLDE – Residents of a street in the village of Eelderwolde in Drenthe recently received a letter announcing that they would soon have a criminal as a neighbour. The letter was written on note paper with a letterhead from realtor Meeùs.

The real estate office has filed a complaint of defamation in connection with the case, the police reported on Friday.

The letter's author, who claims to be a Meeùs employee himself, says he is a "whistle blower." He reports in the letter that employees of the real estate broker have rented the home out to a drug user who also owns child pornography.

"We are investigating the case. There are no results to be reported as yet," said a spokesperson for police.
