NPB members approve police CAO 28/03/2008 00:00

The Dutch Police Union NPB has approved the minister's proposal for the police's collective employment agreement.

28 March 2008

THE HAGUE - The Dutch Police Union NPB has approved Home Affairs Minister Guusje Ter Horst's proposals for the collective employment agreement for police. The NPB was the only union to advise its members to vote against the proposal.

Only 20 percent of the members voted, but 60 percent of them voted in favour of the CAO proposal. If another union approves the proposal, the new CAO can be put in effect. Unions expect there is a good chance of this.

Negotiations on the new CAO have dragged on for months. Many police personnel are still not happy with the proposed salaries, but the government has indicated over the past weeks that there is no more room in the budget.
