18 April 2008

THE NETHERLANDS - A report by the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) says that more people are getting tested for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

In 2007, 78,000 people were tested at an STD clinic, an increase of 13 percent over the year before.

The RIVM report says that one in five homosexual men who visited an STD clinic tested positive for a sexually transmitted disease. One in 10 heterosexuals tested at a clinic were positive for an STD. Chlamydia is the most common STD - 10 percent of all men and women tested were positive for the disease.
