Local council complains about aircraft noise 07/04/2008 00:00

The Amsterdam borough of Osdorp says Schiphol Airport is causing more noise than agreed.

7 April 2008

AMSTERDAM - The Amsterdam borough of Osdorp has submitted a complaint against Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport for causing more noise than agreed.

Other neighbourhoods in west Amsterdam say noise has increased since the beginning of last month, when the airport started a trial in which planes take off from two parallel runways at the same time.

The scheme is supposed to lead to less noise in the long run. Residents in west Amsterdam do not agree.

Questions: How aobut a number where residents can complain? I know one was printed in the local paper.

Will they take complaints in English seriously or merely dismiss them?
