Inflation difference between NL and EU grows 25/02/2008 00:00

The inflation difference between the Netherlands and the rest of the euro zone grew sharply over the past six months.

25 February 2008

VOORBURG – The difference in inflation between the Netherlands and the rest of the euro zone has grown sharply over the past six years.

The difference was 1.5 percentage points in December 2007, Statistics Netherlands (CBS) reported on Monday.

The difference has risen mainly because food, energy and rent prices rose less sharply in the Netherlands than in the rest of Europe.

For example, meat in the Netherlands was cheaper last December compared to a year earlier, while it became more expensive in most other euro countries.
