Heavy congestion on the roads due to strike 14/05/2008 00:00
Nationwide strikes of bus companies on Wednesday have led to morning traffic jams that are twice as long as usual.

THE NETHERLANDS - With nationwide strikes in public transport sectors on Wednesday and Thursday, the Dutch automobile association, the ANWB, is reporting heavy congestion on the roads.
There were traffic jams totalling 285 kilometres on Wednesday morning, twice as long as usual.
The trade unions of the bus companies Connexxion, Veolia and Arriva are demanding a 3.5 percent pay rise and say a general strike will be called if employers do not meet their demands.
The Netherlands' main cities - Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht - remain unaffected, as are Dordrecht, some parts of Friesland and the Achterhoek region of Twente.
