Famous Amsterdam gay street launches website 25/03/2008 00:00

New website helps tourists find gay haunts on the Reguliersbreestraat.

25 March 2008

AMSTERDAM - As of Tuesday, gay tourists visiting the Netherlands can seek out favourite venues in the Reguliersbreestraat, a long narrow street in the medieval city centre of Amsterdam famous for its many gay bars.

The English-language website www.reguliers.net, featuring Amsterdam's prime gay area of cafes, bars and restaurants, is a translation of a Dutch version launched in July.

Dutch gay organisations have been promoting gay culture and tolerance for homosexuals after violence against gays increased, damaging the Dutch reputation as a progressive and gay-tolerant country.

Actually the famous Amsterdam gay street isn't called "Reguliersbreestraat", but "Reguliersdwarsstraat", as also can be seen on the site itself...
