31 March 2008
The construction industry, which is taking on a number of huge projects in coming years, today launched a campaign to encourage secondary school students to take engineering subjects at higher education level.
The next 12 years will see 850,000 new homes built in the Netherlands, and in the next 20 years, around EUR 30 billion is to be spent on renewing the sewerage system.
The campaign is to run for the next three years under the slogan "The Skyline is Yours".
It was launched at a secondary school in Oegstgeest by the chairman of Construction Netherlands, the association for construction companies, and the chairs of the trade unions FNV and CNV.
They say there is a growing need for young talent in jobs such as designer, project manager, project developer, engineer and surveyor.
