The lowlanders buy more than EUR 500 million worth of products in 2007

THE NETHERLANDS - Dutch consumers bought more than EUR 500 million worth of organic products in 2007, an increase of 13 percent over the previous year.

According to Arie van den Brand, secretary of Biologica, which represents shops in the organic sector, sales of eggs and meat grew by more than 20 percent.

In The Netherlands, the demand for organic products is still greater than the supply. Around two percent of food products sold in The Netherlands is biological. In Denmark, the leader in Europe, the figure is five percent.
