HILVERSUM – More and more people are surfing the net. The surfing population rose last year to more than 11 million people aged 13 and older, an increase of 7 percent on 2006.
The Foundation for Internet Advertising (STIR) announced this on Monday.
The average time spent online increased by 8 percent in the same period, from 5.9 hours to 6.4 hours per week. Internet is now in third place, after radio and television, in terms of time spent listening/watching media.
The figures come from the Establishment Survey, which is commissioned by STIR and conducted every six months by Intomart GfK. The figures also show that the number of households that own a computer has increased from 79 percent to 85 percent.
