2006 event

Expatica's Third "i am not a tourist" Fair another big success!

Sunday, 22 October 2006, was a big day for Dutch internationals as, on this day, Expatica's new and improved Welcome to the Netherlands Fair ran in the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam. In an effort to reach out not only to new arrivals, but to long-term expats as well, the name was changed to "i am not a tourist: Fair: The Expo for the International Community Living in the Netherlands". More than 4,000 expats from all over the Netherlands found their way to the capital to enjoy the comfort of getting all the information they need to ensure an interesting and successful life in their new home country in one place and one day. Based on the feedback from the attendees, we can honestly say that the fair was yet again a very popular event. The 88 exhibitors ranged from housing, moving and relocation providers, financial institutions and recruitment agencies to (language) schools, universities, expat publications, social groups and clubs and even a dentist.

As in previous years, the fair boasted a diverse entertainment programme, including improv comedy, cocktail shaking, wine and champagne tasting and even a bit of magic. The free workshops and seminars covered more serious topics such as new business start-up, banking and immigration.

The date for the 2007 event is Sunday, 21 October, and Expatica is already working on bringing the international community an even bigger and better fair next year.
