24/10/2010Thailand: Increased Enforcement Activities for Visa Overstays

Thai immigration authorities are increasing enforcement efforts against foreign nationals who overstay their visas. Foreign nationals who overstay their visa by 42 days or longer can be sentenced to prison for up to two years or fined THB 20,000 or both, and be subject to deportation. They may also be barred from re-entering Thailand.
