Singapore has emerged as the best city in the world for Asian expatriates to live in.
4 March 2008
Singapore (dpa) - Singapore emerged as the best city in the world for Asian expatriates to live because of its clean air and low crime rate, a human resource consultancy's survey said on Tuesday.
Europeans selected Copenhagen, while Mid-Easterners picked Manama, the capital of Bahrain.
Sydney clinched the second spot for Asians, followed by Melbourne and Kobe, Japan sharing third, said ECA International.
Copenhagen followed in fifth place, trailed by Canberra, Australia and Vancouver, Canada. Wellington, New Zealand and Yokohama, Japan shared eighth with Dublin rounding out the top ten.
Lee Quane, ECA International's general manager, said Singapore's low crime rate, clean air and infrastructure made it the top choice.
The city-state also gave Asian expatriates a feeling similar to their homelands, ECA said.
