PwC magazine Reward Matters June 2011 looks at the challenges remuneration committees are facing and how they can address them.
Executive remuneration is neither an art nor a science. Yet, you need multi-disciplinary expertise and judgment to get grip on the challenges remuneration committees are facing. As the economy recovers, markets improve and the demand for talent increases, they have to manage a complex balancing act to account for the interests of various stakeholders: management, shareholders and investors' representative organisations, government, customers and employees. And in this context the power of the media and public opinion should not be underestimated. How can executive and supervisory boards manage these present-day pressures and build a coherent, connected and responsible remuneration framework? What are the basics of a coherent remuneration framework? What does an integrated policy look like? What connections need to be made? All relevant matters, given the business and social context in which boards take decisions about executive pay. Companies will have to strike a balance between the increasing external pressures and the need to motivate and retain their key talent in Europe, Asia and the Americas. In this light it is our pleasure to offer you a copy of Reward Matters (click here to download a copy), our magazine covering executive remuneration. We trust that you will find this magazine both an interesting and thought-provoking read.
