Annual jazz festival in the legendary district of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the birthplace of jazz in Europe. At the festival local and international musicians perform everything from boogie woogie to the blues. In 2009, the line-up includes the Violet Trio, the Lucy Dixon Quintet and the Orchestre National de Jazz. Pianist Jacky Terrasson’s trio invites clarinet player Michel Portal to the Grand Amphithéâtre de la Sorbonne, Kenny Barron plays at the church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés and pianists, Emmanuel Bex and Nico Morelli pay a tribute to Bill Evans.
