MADRID, Aug 30, 2006 (AFP) - Zinedine Zidane has kissed goodbye to six million euros, the salary he would have received for the final year of his contract at Real Madrid before retiring at the end of last season.

The former France playmaker says he won't touch "a single euro" from that sum in payment for the work he does between now and the end of the contract with Real's youngsters or in his new role as the club's ambassador.

"Zidane's behaviour has been exemplary, worthy of a star of his stature," said a Real director quoted by Spanish sports daily AS.

AS added that Zidane, sent off for that infamous headbutt in the World Cup final against Italy last month, plans to continue living in the Spanish capital where he is in the process of building a home.

The paper also reports that Real are considering paying homage to the former galactico with a fixture against his former Les Bleus' teammates.
