SANAA, Jan 31 (AFP) - Yemen will take delivery of eight gunboats for its coastguard from France in February, a security source said Monday.

The source, cited on the website of President Ali Abdullah Saleh's General People's Congress (GPC), said the gunboats would come at a cost of around USD 10 million (EUR 7.6 million).

The United States and Italy are among several countries which have been helping Yemen build and equip its fledgling coastguard. Five US experts are currently helping train members of the coastguard in the southern port of Aden.
