A women bruised body was found in her suite in the Hotel Bristo a famous dining spot of President Nicolas Sarkozy and other stars.

Paris – French police launched a manhunt after staff found the body of a 36-year-old woman in one of Paris's most famous hotels, a favourite dining spot of President Nicolas Sarkozy and other stars.

The Polish-born Frenchwoman's bruised corpse was found on Tuesday in the bathtub of her suite in the Hotel Bristol, a five-star retreat in one of the city's most elegant neighbourhoods, a short walk from Sarkozy's Elysee Palace.

Several objects in the room were damaged, investigators said Wednesday, adding that an autopsy would be conducted to determine the cause of her death.

In the meantime, detectives are hunting for the woman's 40-year-old former partner who had been staying with her in the Bristol but has disappeared. Hotel management refused to comment on the incident.

The Bristol's restaurant was awarded its third Michelin star this year and is known as a haunt of the rich and famous. Last week it was briefly invaded by left-wing protesters who blame the current economic crisis on the rich.
