Cinéma en Plein Air (Open Air Cinema)
One of the best events of the summer is the open air film festival at the Parc de la Villette. From mid-July until the end of August, films are shown every Tuesday through Sunday beginning at nightfall. Entry to the lawn is free, and deckchairs can be rented for EUR 6.50. Groups can get a deal with 5 chairs for EUR 20. English-language films in July include Gosford Park (July 17), the Magnificent Ambersons (July 18), the Servant (July 25), My Beautiful Laundrette (July 26), Remains of the Day (July 27), Tess (July 28), and Pretty Woman (July 29). Two rolling tours through the City of Light happen every week. More than 4,000 skaters take a different 35 km circuit every Friday night - with rollerblading police accompaniment! Details on this circuit are available here every Thursday. Beginners have a more leisurely circuit of 20km over 3 hours on Sunday afternoons, with details provided here.

Les Grands Eaux Musicales
If you're considering a visit to the Château de Versailles, be sure to hang around the gardens at one of the following times. From 11-12, 3:30-5 and 5:20-5:30 pm, the incredible fountains (inaugerated in 1666) will be pouring out their hearts to the rhythm of baroque tunes selected by conductor Hervé Niquet. Admission is EUR 7.
