War crimes accused Rwandan rebel arrives on Dutch soil
Rwandan rebel leader Callixte Mbarushimana arrived here Tuesday for handover to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to face charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity, a court official said.
He arrived at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport on an Air France flight from Paris and was to be immediately taken to the UN detention centre in The Hague, the official in the office of the prosecutor told AFP.
Mbarushimana, 47, is alleged to have been an executive secretary of the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR).
The ICC suspects Mbarushimana of five crimes against humanity and six war crimes including murder, rape and torture committed in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo in 2009.
