Virgin US orders 18 Airbus planes

PARIS, June 15 (AFP) - European aircraft manufacturer Airbus Industrie said Tuesday it had won firm orders from proposed new low-cost operator Virgin US for 11 A319 jets and seven A320s.

PARIS, June 15 (AFP) - European aircraft manufacturer Airbus Industrie said Tuesday it had won firm orders from proposed new low-cost operator Virgin US for 11 A319 jets and seven A320s.

It said Virgin US would lease a further 15 A320s from the aviation services arm of General Electric's unit GE Capital.

No financial details were disclosed.

Deliveries are scheduled to start in early 2005.
