ROME, Feb 22, 2007 (AFP) - Inter Milan's dynamic French midfielder Patrick Vieira is very doubtful for their crucial Champions League last 16, second leg away to Valencia, club doctor Andrea Butti told AFP on Thursday.

The 30-year-old France captain is currently in Lyon, France undergoing treatment on the injured right hamstring which ruled him out of Wednesday's 2-2 first leg draw against the Spaniards.

Butti was reluctant to say when Vieira would return to action, but admitted he was unlikely to play in Spain on March 6.

"Every player heals differently and once he is well into his rehabilitation programme we'll get a better idea of how long he'll be out, but I'd say it will be very difficult for him to play against Valencia," Butti said.

Inter, who are 14 points clear at the top of Serie A after winning their last 16 matches, must win or get a higher-scoring draw against Valencia if they are to reach the Champions League quarter-finals.
