PARIS, July 7 (AFP) - The attacks that hit London on Thursday killed between 45 and 50 people and left some 1,000 injured, a top French official said.

The statement, from an official who asked not to be named, came shortly after British police said that at least 33 people died in three of four main attacks that hit the city.

Police said they did not know how many people had died in the fourth attack, which devastated a bus.

Separately, Italian Interior Minister Giuseppe Pisanu told parliamentarians in Rome that the attacks had killed some 50 people.
