An 18-month-old baby was one of two more cases of swine flu confirmed in France bringing the total to 7.PARIS – Two more cases of swine flu including an 18-month-old baby were confirmed in France on Wednesday, bringing the total number of people infected to seven in the country, health authorities said.
The baby from Mexico and a 17-year-old man returning from the country tested positive for the disease that has left 42 dead in Mexico, said the National Institute for Public Health Monitoring.
Health Minister Roselyne Bachelot earlier said a fifth case had been confirmed, that of a 23-year-old man from the Paris region but that the illness was not life-threatening.
Four other people infected in France are also said to be responding well to treatment and some have left hospital.
World health officials have tallied more than 1,400 people infected around the globe so far and countries have imposed a range of measures to prevent a wider outbreak.
A nationwide public awareness campaign went into full swing this week in France, with television and radio advertisements advising people to wash their hands often and use paper tissue to blow their noses.
