PARIS, March 19, 2007 - Two homeless people who were living in tents on the improvised campsite of the Saint Martin canal in Paris died of what appears to be a methadone overdose.

Augustin Legand – the leader of "Les Enfants de Don Quichotte", the association that started the campsite to help homeless people during the coldest hours of the winter – said he was "sad and shocked".

One of the victim was an Iranian in his 30s while the other was a younger male of French origins who had been living on the Saint Martin canal campsite with his girlfriend for over two months.
