Turn-out 22.9 percent at noon in election

PARIS, June 17, 2007 (AFP) - Turn-out in the second round of France's legislative election was 22.9 percent at noon (1100 GMT), a small increase on the first round which saw record abstention levels, the interior ministry said.

PARIS, June 17, 2007 (AFP) - Turn-out in the second round of France's legislative election was 22.9 percent at noon (1100 GMT), a small increase on the first round which saw record abstention levels, the interior ministry said.

Turn-out at the same point last Sunday was 22.65 percent. By close 60.4 percent of the electorate had voted.

France is choosing a new National Assembly, with the centre-right party loyal to President Nicolas Sarkozy expected to get a big majority.
