PARIS, March 31, 2008 - A Paris suburban town which advertised an
April 1 concert by German pop group Tokio Hotel admitted Friday that it was an
April Fool joke following an avalanche of protests by fans.
The concert announcement in an Internet statement spread like wildfire on
the Internet and the Vincennes town hall had to backtrack following a protest
by the group's official fan club.
"It is an April Fool's joke, the group will not be coming to Vincennes on
April 1," the town hall said in a statement.
The original Internet announcement said Tokio Hotel singer Bill Kaulitz was
to see a throat doctor in Vincennes and its mayor Laurent Lafon would give the
group the keys to the town.
The town hall said it wanted to "end all doubt following so many reactions."
