Three French sailors kidnapped by pirates from an oil industry supply vessel off Nigeria six weeks ago have been released, French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said Wednesday.

"My first thoughts are with our fellow citizens who have just gone through such a difficult ordeal," said Kouchner, adding that he had heard about the release from the Nigerian authorities.

Two more French oilmen who were kidnapped Monday in a separate attack on an oil platform along with five fellow expatriate workers are still missing and France was doing everything it could to find them, he added.
