Strong decisions needed to calm markets: Greece
Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou, whose indebted country had to be bailed out last year, called Friday for European leaders to take the "strong" decisions needed to calm financial markets.
"Now we need European decisions, strong European decisions to calm the markets," Papandreou said as he went into an EU summit here.
Greece had to bailed out by the EU and IMF in May last year when the markets turned against it, demanding ever higher rates of return to lend fresh money to the government.
When those rates became unsustainable, Athens had to seek a debt rescue.
