PARIS, Jan 20 (AFP) - The Louvre and Orsay museums, two of Paris's most visited tourist attractions, were closed on Thursday due to a strike by French civil servants, museum management announced.

The Guimet museum of Asian art, the Gustave Moreau museum and the French capital's tropical aquarium were also shut due to the work stoppage by state-paid employees, billed by unions as a campaign to defend public services.

The Rodin museum and the Cluny museum of the Middle Ages remained open, and the Picasso museum was partially open, management said.

At the Versailles chateau outside Paris, only the Grand Apartments were open to visitors.
