Snowl in France forces flight cancellations, disrupts roads
Snow and freezing temperatures forced French aviation authorities to cancel 116 flights from Lyon airport on Wednesday and brought 10,000 trucks to a halt, officials said.
Lyon's Saint-Exupery airport said it was hoping to gradually restore traffic to normal later in the day.
In the Auvergne and the Rhone Alpes regions more than 7,000 trucks had to park on the side of the road overnight due to heavy snow, officials said, with another 3,000 brought to a stop in other regions.
Much of France has been covered in a blanket of snow this week but the capital Paris has so far been spared.
Snow and freezing temperatures severely disrupted airports in Germany and Britain and caused chaos and deaths on roads across Europe on Tuesday.
