Shell to develop methane terminal in France

PARIS, April 23, 2007 (AFP) - Royal Dutch Shell said on Monday it had agreed to develop a methane terminal in southern France near Marseille, with an initial capacity of about 8.0 billion cubic metres per year.

PARIS, April 23, 2007 (AFP) - Royal Dutch Shell said on Monday it had agreed to develop a methane terminal in southern France near Marseille, with an initial capacity of about 8.0 billion cubic metres per year.

It said that Shell Energy Europe and the autonomous port of Marseille "have agreed the terms of a methane terminal project at Fos-sur-Mer" in the Bouches-du Rhone region.

The project, which is subject to approval by the authorities, "would offer, in the first phase, a capacity of around 8.0 billion cubic metres of gas per year", it said.

It did not give financial details.
