PARIS, Sept 12 (AFP) - Security agents at Paris Orly airport staged an unannounced strike on Sunday in protest over pay arrears, causing a series of delays to international flights, airport sources said.

Employees of the Prosegur security contractor, who are in charge of passenger luggage checks at Orly, stopped for 45 minutes, according to a company source speaking on condition of anonymity.

They then returned to work but continued their protest by inspecting all luggage in transit instead of the required 50 percent, causing 90 minute delays to international flights, the source said.

The Aeroports de Paris group which manages the airport confirmed there had been a strike but said the delays had been minor.

"Work was slowed down somewhat and certain flights were delayed by 10 to 20 minutes," said a spokesman, adding that very few flights had been affected.

The source at Prosegur, which employs some 300 people at Orly airport, said the strike action may continue on Monday. The employees are demanding payment of their salaries for the month of August.
