PARIS, Sept 4, 2007 (AFP) - One of French President Nicolas Sarkozy's three sons is to appear in court next week accused of fleeing the scene of a scooter accident in Paris in 2005, judicial officials said Tuesday.

PARIS, Sept 4, 2007 (AFP) - One of French President Nicolas Sarkozy's three sons is to appear in court next week accused of fleeing the scene of a scooter accident in Paris in 2005, judicial officials said Tuesday.

Jean Sarkozy, 20, is accused of failing to stop after crashing his scooter into the rear of a car in October 2005. He is also accused of driving unsafely and failing to maintain a proper road distance.

He is to appear before a Paris traffic offences court next Tuesday at 9:00 am (0700 GMT). The car's driver is asking for 260 euros (350 dollars) to cover the cost of repairs and 4,000 euros in damages.
