PARIS, April 21 (AFP) - France's finance and economics minister, Nicolas Sarkozy, is to meet a slew of senior US officials this week when he travels to Washington for a meeting of counterparts from the Group of Seven (G7) industrialised countries, his office said Wednesday.

Sarkozy, who took over his portfolio this month in a government reshuffle, will meet US Secretary of State Colin Powell and national security advisory Condoleezza Rice on Friday in separate, half-hour talks, a statement said.

On the sideline of the G7 meeting to take place on the weekend, he will also see the head of the US Federal Reserve, Alan Greenspan, and Treasury Secretary John Snow, as well as the head of the World Bank, James Wolfensohn.

The G7 counts Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States.
